One of the World's Great Offshore Performance Cruisers.
Designed by Rod Johnstone and built by J/Boats, with only around 35 examples ever produced, the J/160 has earned an enviable reputation as one of the world's finest offshore performance cruisers. Combining exhilarating sailing performance with genuine bluewater capability and refined cruising comfort, it remains a yacht that experienced sailors actively seek out.
That reputation continues today. Veteran offshore sailor Michael Spies, a 47-time Sydney Hobart competitor, recently described the J/160 as his "dream boat" after searching internationally to find the right one--a reflection of just how highly regarded this design remains.
Salacia is a beautifully maintained example that has been continually upgraded while preserving everything that makes the J/160 so special. Advanced composite construction, an easily driven hull and low centre of gravity create a yacht that is light on the helm, balanced under sail and remarkably easy to handle for her size. Whether sailing shorthanded, racing offshore or setting off on extended cruising, she delivers the rewarding sailing experience for which J/Boats are renowned.
Below decks, the beautifully crafted teak interior offers a practical three-cabin layout with a spacious owner's suite, two guest cabins, a well-appointed wrap-around galley and comfortable saloon. Reverse-cycle air conditioning, a Sea Recovery watermaker and Fischer Panda generator provide the comforts needed for extended cruising. On deck, the Hall carbon mast, hydraulic backstay, retractable carbon bowsprit and comprehensive sail wardrobe reflect her serious performance pedigree, while a new Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro navigation suite (2026) ensures she is equipped for modern passagemaking.
