Description
16m ARUN CLASS OFFSHORE RESCUE VESSEL – EXTREMELY STRONG EXPEDITION PLATFORM
We are pleased to present a rare opportunity to acquire a legendary Arun Class all-weather lifeboat, originally built for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) – one of the most respected rescue services in the world.
This vessel was built in the UK by VT Halmatic and launched in 1986 as RNLB Margaret Russell Fraser (ON1108). The boat served many years in the RNLI fleet before being sold to the Icelandic rescue organisation ICE-SAR, where she has operated as INGIBJÖRG SAR.
Arun class lifeboats are famous for their incredible seaworthiness. Designed to operate in extreme North Atlantic conditions, these vessels are self-righting, massively built and capable of maintaining speed in heavy weather. With twin Caterpillar diesel engines and a top speed of approximately 18 knots, she is a serious offshore vessel with a range of around 250 nautical miles.
The robust hull construction and proven offshore capability make this vessel ideal for several uses such as:
- Expedition vessel
- Offshore support vessel
- Patrol / security boat
- Commercial workboat
- Conversion to expedition yacht or explorer vessel
The Arun class has developed a strong reputation among professional mariners and explorers for their reliability and exceptional sea-keeping abilities.
